Font del Mosquit is a white wine blend of Macabeo (70%) and Garnacha Blanca (30%) grapes from different vineyards located in Torroja del Priorat and produced by the Bravo Escós winery.
TASTING NOTES
Golden color with persistent legs. On the nose, it is a discreet wine with white, citrus, and aniseed fruits that hint at the graphite of the slate. On the palate, it is a full-bodied, voluminous, and gourmand wine with a slight acidity that appears at the end, providing tension and freshness. Subtle retronasal aromas of white fruits and local herbs highlight the graphite, which reveals the region's slate soils. Ample, generous, and fresh.
VITICULTURE
The Macabeo and Garnacha Blanca grapes used to make this wine come from vineyards located in Torroja del Priorat. The soil is composed of clay-limestone slates weathered with alluvial deposits. Macabeo grapes from 30- and 100-year-old vines and young Garnacha Blanca grapes, cultivated using sustainable farming practices in conversion to organic.
WINEMAKING
Twelve-hour maceration with the skins of the century-old Macabeo grapes followed by pressing. The Macabeo and young Garnacha Blanca grapes are pressed directly. The must is blended and undergoes spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The final fermentation and subsequent aging take place in 1,100 L polyethylene egg-shaped tanks.
